General

XsDesktop?! Another web 2.0 application or a platform for the future!?

XsDesktop consists basically of two parts: the framework and the applications. The framework is the general, business independent, part of the system. It provides a solid API (application programming interface) for the application that run within XsDesktop.

One serie of applications is mentioned in particular. The Office applications offer you a way to organize your business easily and from any location with access to internet. Some parts of this site might be slightly technical but the information about Office is very practically explaining everything you want to know about how you can organize your business using our applications!

Multi-user

XsDesktop is build as multi-user environment. You can logon to a single account with as many people as you like (depending on your license). Everybody needs their own XsDesktop-account and with that they can logon to shared account, like a company-account. The owner of the shared account can give permissions to logon to other accounts, so only those who have been given access by the owner of the shared account can access the shared account. The permissions are managed by giving roles (like 'guest' and 'user') to the accounts that are allowed to logon. Based on these roles they have permissions to use certain functionality within the applications.

Concurrency is handled by keeping track of versions. Making it impossible to overwrite someones changes without notice.

Security

Security is very important when dealing with your business information. Because of that we have made the site where you work, secure by using a certificate (SSL): https://secure.xsdesktop.com. All data between the server and your client (and vice versa) is encrypted, so unreadable for others on the internet.

Beside safe transport of your data across the internet, we also make automated daily backups (encrypted and password protected) of the data and copy that through a secure line to the redundant servers of Amazon S3 to prevent dataloss in case of disasters like fire in the datacenter.
